Tobias Rehberger Bar Oppenheimer

I read about the opening of this bar in Thrillist, and couldn't resist checking it out for myself on Saturday night.  Bar Oppenheimer is an art installation in the basement of the Hotel Americano and is modeled off the original Bar Oppenheimer in Frankfurt.  Tobias Rehberger, German painter, sculpture, and architect is the mastermind behind this trippy graphic design.  I remember reading somewhere that this pattern is referred to as "dazzle camouflage" because it was used during WW1 as a tactic to make it difficult for soldiers to hit a target.

I asked the bartender what it was like to work in such a visually stimulating place for hours upon end.  He said it felt very Clockwork Orange.  I had one of the scariest and most realistic dreams of my life after spending an evening here.  In my dream, aliens stole weapons from Russia and attacked us.  I do not watch/read/think about sci fi, so I can't help but think this bar was to blame.
The New York Times article about Bar Oppenheimer:
The installation is only in NY until July, so make sure to check it out before it moves to Mexico City and then Switzerland.

stylish seaport

New camera! And it was about time.  So we spent some time walking around the seaport and fidi on sunday trying to figure out the settings.  Unfortunately, I played with the editing software but could not figure out how to save.  Could clearly benefit from a photography/software lesson or two.

Note to future homeowner self: leaves and a horse bust make a stunning doorway.

Stormy gray door paired with brass.  This would be a killer combo in a bathroom.

Stars are always right.

More delicious stonework.  Who says the fidi is boring?

Candy apple red.

Amazing old stationery store with original printing presses from the 1800s.  This store amazes me.

Pretty incredible door.  But why the depressing light bulb?
